Got to give it up to my Phoenix family for an amazing FULL CIRCLE visit.
Dropped in for the Forever in CO+HOOTS 6 year anniversary party and was met with such a tremendous WELCOME. 500+ people who BELIEVE in the power, potential, and possibility of this fiery city joined last Friday to celebrate six years of blood, sweat, and tears in growing this truly inspiring community hub.
CO+HOOTS is more than a coworking space, it’s a community, it’s a home. It’s a place for Entrepreneurs regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status to LAUNCH, FAIL & SCALE their dreams.
I am grateful, ecstatic, and thrilled to see it thriving.
CO+HOOTS was my first work love and when I decided to move on three years ago and follow my next big dream, I consciously broke my own heart. It may sound dramatic but it was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Why would I leave something so special to pursue such uncertainty?
One word: GROWTH
After the Grand Rehatching Party in 2013 there was a need for CO+HOOTS to stabilize and maintain. I'm a Launcher and I was ready for the next challenge. I sensed my time had come.
When we were parting ways, I remember saying to our Fearless Founder, Jenny Poondingo, the two most important things to me in all of this are our friendship and the community. In three years, I want to come back and celebrate CO+HOOTS thriving, bigger and stronger than ever. I want us to be friends and mentors supporting each other in our dreams. She looked at me, skeptical. Three years seemed like forever away.
But it came up sooner than we thought. Here we are, 2016, Jenny at the helm with a full staff and a community that has expanded 3X the size, 250 members, and 10X the impact. The family welcomed me back with OPEN ARMS and I got to speak alongside five other core Cohootians that have played a critical part in CO+HOOTS growth: Matt Clower (FIRST Member), Odeen-Jon Domingo (Founding Member), Kay Transtrum (Program Director), Jenny Poon (Founder), and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton (who waited very patiently for us all to speak!). Listen to my speech here.
Thank you PHX, for welcoming me back, FULL CIRCLE. My fiery heart feels so full.
And only time will tell, but I have a feeling we will be seeing more of each other in 2017 😉
